Garner to Host Transit Program Workshop

GARNER, NC — Garner citizens are invited to participate in a second round of public workshops about future bus and rail options.

Public workshops highlighting the Triangle Regional Transit Program will begin in Raleigh starting Sept. 14. A workshop is scheduled in Garner Thursday, Sept. 23 at the Garner Historic Auditorium from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and will include two formal presentations.

These community meetings on the Triangle Regional Transit Program will offer the opportunity for citizens to respond to a technical analysis of transit corridors under study in Wake, Durham and Orange counties. Information presented at each meeting will include each county’s projects as well as the region.

The analysis will review the purpose and need for transportation-related improvements and the criteria by which project alternatives have been evaluated.

“As the Triangle continues to expand and our population grows to record numbers, it is crucial we design a transportation system that can meet future demands,” said David King, CEO and general manager of Triangle Transit. “Hearing from people who live and work in the Triangle and are invested in this community improves our ability to produce plans which meet these future needs.”

Citizens can find expanded information on the program and comprehensive resources related to the Triangle Regional Transit Program on the Web site ourtransitfuture.com [1].

A third round of workshops will be held in February 2011.
