The Vision
A CLEAR VISION
The vision for transit connectivity in the Triangle is strong and clear. Based upon a solid planning foundation, the current Triangle Regional Transit Program is moving forward with a solid array of vital partners. The vision incorporates enhanced bus services and new commuter rail corridors that will effectively and efficiently serve the growing Triangle community.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
• Build on the CAMPO and DCHC-MPO approved Long-range Transportation Plan and other previous efforts
• Evaluate new and improved mass transit services for the region
• Identify the segments within the study corridors that are most viable, cost-effective, and competitive for Federal funding
• Create awareness of transit technologies and benefits
• Engage the public, local government, federal and state agencies, and sponsors of other projects in the region
• Coordinate with the following but separate projects in the region:
+ Metropolitan Planning Organization short and mid-range bus plan
enhancements for Wake, Durham and Orange counties
+ Southeast High Speed Rail Project
+ City of Raleigh Union Station Multi-modal Facility
+ North Carolina Railroad Greensboro to Goldsboro Commuter Rail Study
